The “Russia-Islamic World” forum kicks off in Kazan, Russia
Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, is hosting representatives from over 90 countries and 60 Russian regions at the 17th Russia-Islamic World Forum, which opened today, Tuesday.
The forum will run until May 17, with the two-day economic program commencing on May 14.
Key events include a meeting of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, chaired by the President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, and the forum’s plenary session, titled “From Points on the Map to Growth Points: Uniting Technological and Financial Initiatives.”
For the first time, the forum is hosting a conference of national banks from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with representatives from 24 countries participating.
The event focuses on “Participatory Finance as an Engine for Infrastructure Development and Sustainable Growth,” with an emphasis on the development of the Islamic finance sector.
Also taking place in Kazan is the International Conference of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) on Participatory Finance and Investment.
As part of the forum’s activities, the Kazan Halal Products Exhibition, the “Russia and the Islamic World for Cooperation” exhibition (aimed at promoting investment projects and infrastructure), and the International Real Estate Exhibition will be held.
Cultural events include the opening of Kazan as the “Capital of Islamic Culture” year, the General Assembly of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), and a fashion show.
The 17th International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Forum” is the main platform for economic cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world.
Organizers emphasized that the goal of this major event is to strengthen trade, economic, scientific, technological, social, and cultural ties between Russia and the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
