Tolerance in Islam
Among the forms of tolerance and transgression recorded by the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, is what was narrated by Anas bin Malik – may God be pleased with him – where he said: “I was walking with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he was wearing a Najrani robe with a thick hem. A Bedouin caught up with him and pulled him with his robe violently. I looked at the shoulder blade of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. The hem of the robe affected it because of its strong attraction. Then he said: O Muhammad, pass me some of God’s wealth that you have. Then the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, turned to him and laughed, then ordered a gift for him.
