The US Congress honors the Secretary General of the Muslim World League in recognition of his efforts to promote global coexistence.
Republican and Democratic members of the US Congress honored the Secretary General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, at the US Capitol in Washington, D.C., in recognition of the League’s role and efforts in combating hatred and promoting coexistence among religious communities.
A number of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate signed a certificate of appreciation that commended these efforts and supported the cohesion of the social fabric in diversity to reduce conflict and division, particularly international efforts focused on combating racist attitudes that target the security and dignity of followers of different religions and ethnicities.
Meanwhile, leaders of the Muslim community who attended the ceremony described it as an honor for all members of the Muslim community in the United States, and noted that it was the first event of its kind to be held at the Capitol. Sheikh Mohammed Al-Issa explained that the efforts being honored represent Islamic values that call for world peace and harmony among societies. He emphasized the League’s ongoing work to promote positive and effective dialogue among all to support a culture of understanding, awareness, and cooperation, stemming from an understanding of the Creator’s wisdom in the inevitable diversity of the world. This understanding, he added, leads to a comprehension of differences and addressing them with conscious and civilized reasoning, not with conflict and confrontation.
Following this, members of the US Congress delivered speeches at the ceremony, highlighting the Muslim World League’s efforts in light of the reasons for the honor.
