On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Deputy Governor of Makkah had the honor of washing the Kaaba.

On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, had the honor of washing the Holy Kaaba on Tuesday, 15th of Muharram, 1448 AH.

Upon his arrival, the Deputy Governor of Makkah washed the Holy Kaaba from the inside with Zamzam water mixed with rosewater, rubbing the interior walls of the Kaaba with cloths soaked in the mixture.

The purification, veneration, care, maintenance, and attention to the Ancient House (the Kaaba) has been a steadfast and unwavering practice since the era of the founder, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, may God have mercy on him, and continues to this day under the prosperous reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince.

The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque confirmed that the Kingdom mobilized its technical, service, and human resources for the occasion of washing the Holy Kaaba, supported by technical and engineering personnel to extend the Kaaba’s ladder. The Authority noted that preparations began with 15 liters of Zamzam water, 15 liters of rose water, 15 liters of rose oil, and 100 ml of oud oil. The process then moved to the washing of the Holy Kaaba, following the procedures established for this annual event.

It explained that all stages are carried out with meticulous care and precision, reflecting the status and sanctity of the Holy Kaaba. The materials used are prepared in advance according to the highest standards of purity and hygiene, in line with the latest approved standard and service systems for this global Islamic event.

It is worth mentioning that the ceremony of washing the Kaaba begins first by sweeping the floor of the Holy Kaaba from dust and dirt before washing. Then, copper vessels are brought in which Zamzam water is mixed with fragrant rose perfume, aged oil, and fine oud. Pieces of cloth are moistened with it to begin the process of wiping the wall of the Holy Kaaba from the inside. Then, the three columns inside the Kaaba are washed, as well as the floors. After that, they are dried with pieces of cloth with wooden handles. Finally, the walls are perfumed with the latest tools to cover the entire area of ​​the Holy Kaaba.
