On the authority of Abu Dhar al-Ghafari – may God be pleased with him – that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: “Your smile in the face of your brother is charity for you.”
Directed by Al-Tirmidhi (1956)

Explanation of the hadith:
His saying: (Your smile in the face of your brother) in religion (for you is charity) means your display of cheerfulness and goodwill when you meet him, you will be rewarded for it just as you are rewarded for charity.
