Verse and its interpretation
Allah Almighty says: {By the ten nights}
[Surah Al-Fajr: Verse 2]
Interpretation of the noble verse:
Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the meaning of the verse:
“It has been said that the ten nights refer to the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, and the term ‘nights’ is used for the days because the Arabic language is broad; nights may be used to refer to days, and days to refer to nights. It has also been said that the ten nights refer to the last ten nights of Ramadan. As for the first interpretation—those who say that the ten nights refer to the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah—it is because the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are virtuous days, about which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: ‘There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.’ They asked: ‘Not even jihad in the way of Allah?’” He said: “Not even jihad in the cause of God, except for a man who goes out with his life and his wealth and does not return with anything from that.”
