Verse and its Commentary
Allah the Almighty said: And those who are attentive to their trusts and their covenants,”
— Surah Al-Mu’minun: Verse 8
Exegesis (Tafseer) of the Noble Verse: Meaning: They observe them, control them, preserve them, and are keen to fulfill and execute them. This is general and encompasses all trusts—those due to Allah and those due to His servants. Every obligation that Allah has enjoined upon His servant is a trust, which the servant must preserve by fulfilling it completely. This also includes the trusts of human beings, such as financial deposits, secrets, and the like. Therefore, the servant must observe both matters and fulfill both trusts.
Likewise, the “covenant” includes the covenant between them and their Lord, and the covenants between them and people. These are the obligations and contracts that a servant enters into, which they are required to observe and fulfill, while it is forbidden for them to neglect or fail in them.
