Islamic civilization
“They – the Muslims – also took the paper industry from the Chinese, but they developed it greatly. The first Islamic paper was made in the city of Samarkand, then it became famous in Baghdad, Cairo and some cities of Andalusia. Paper is known as (Kaghid), and if it is cut into small sizes it is known as (Qirtas), and the Muslims invented a type of paper made from fabric and then lined with wax to make it stronger, and it is known as (Parchment).”
